This posting is open to Permanent Teachers, Probationary Teachers and Occasional Teachers currently employed by Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.

Salary Range:

$52.53/hour per OECTA Collective Agreement, Article 24.15

9am – 3pm (Dependent on Ministry funding & Health Guidelines)

Notes:

The 2026 Summer Numeracy/Literacy Learning Program is funded and supported by the Ministry of Education, through the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE). The program is a research-based initiative to support elementary school students (Grades 1-2) to maintain and/or increase their numeracy and literacy achievement levels. (Note: There will be a mandatory one-day orientation and training on Literacy and Mathematics resources to discuss the program and network with colleagues. To take place on June 30 before classroom set up.

The primary focus is to support students in grades 1-2 to acquire the essential Ontario curriculum numeracy and literacy expectations and to sustain/increase individual pupil skill development. Teachers will be responsible for the development and implementation of programs for students using the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum, the Ontario Language Curriculum as well as the Ministry of Education resources. The ongoing focus is the development of the Fundamentals of Mathematics and Literacy. The program will run, subject to a minimum of enrolment of 15 students per class, classes may be combined. There is expectation of data collection and reporting as part of the CODE research project.

The program will be delivered on-site and in-person.

Teachers are required to:

  • Work with teachers to create learning goals for students
  • Provide additional support to students
  • Final Report Cards due July 24, 2026
Qualifications :
  • Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Primary/Junior Qualifications
  • Mathematics & Specialist Qualifications preferred and/or Literacy & Specialist Qualifications preferred.
